Vintage Ugly Sweaters

September 30, 2016

Here at Roody Originals, we make custom ugly sweaters. That's all we do because that's all we love to do. We love new and exciting ideas for designs, people who create something truly original. When it comes to custom sweaters, what's the point copying a design from someone else ? Your sweater can literally be anything you want it to be. That said, that doesn't mean other sweaters can't be looked at for inspiration and where better to look than vintage?

Vintage sweaters are great because they provide inspiration for custom ugly christmas sweaters. A lot of people like to incorporate a bit of nostalgia or a "nod to the past" in their designs. This is especially great if the custom ugly christmas sweaters are being given as gifts to clients or for marketing campaigns. Here are a few that we really love and the reasons why:

So technically this is more of a ski sweater look but we think the one on the right looks very much like a candy cane! The one on the left is great because it actually has quite a classic look. The design on the sleeves matches the design on the chest area and you will see from the image that the same design is under the people skiing. What this does is create a frame almost-it works around the people skiing and due to that showcases them and makes them the talking point. This is interesting because the people skiing against that sort of design has the potential to be lost but because of the strategic placing of the design, it does the opposite. Another thing to note is that the people skiing are facing each other. This brings the eye to the middle of the sweater whereas if they were both facing one way, your eyes would slowly move away from the sweater.

We love these sweaters especially the one of the right which has the added element of keeping you warm! That's the thing with custom sweaters-they don't have to be all the same. As they are all custom made, they can be a little different than the norm. The other great detail is the design itself. That's really what the focus should be on if you want a nostalgia element-the design, choose designs like old knitting patterns.
