The collar can mean different things when it comes to custom ugly christmas sweaters so it's best not to get anything mixed up. Here are the general rules:
Every custom ugly christmas sweater will have a collar. Just like the hemline and cuffs, this is needed for the actual sweater and the collar in this regard will simply refer to the crew neck. This collar can be any color you want. It can be the exact same as the sweater color or can match (or indeed clash) with the hemline and cuffs. So this is referred to as the normal collar as it's part of the neckline and can be a specific color or in line with the sweater.
Some requests are for santa outfit sweaters so essentially the sweater will be made to look like a santa costume and will feature big buttons and a belt. This can have a normal collar-red to match the sweater-or can be white-either a small outline like fur to match the cuffs or in the shape of a beard so it just depends on specific looks.
This is pretty much the same as above. A green sweater made to look like an elf costume but when it comes to the collar, it can be made to look like a collar.
So how is the collar added on
Whether you want the custom ugly christmas sweater to have a santa, elf, normal or just a collar for some other design, it is made as part of the sweater. It's not added on at the end. It's fully knitted into the design. This means it will stay in place and won't ruin the look of your sweater as it's very much a part of it!
